Everyone loves Chekhov, and I’m pleased to say he is in no was overrated. He is very appropriately rated. The Lady with the Dog is a short story, you can get through it in one sitting. It describes a relationship between a lady (with a dog) and a young man both vacationing alone in Crimea.

For me, it’s easy to get disenchanted with short stories, and this is one you read to remind yourself of their power.
